DEFI wind carribean is on

Three weeks after the Défi Wind of Gruissan - France, windsurfers and kitesurfers of the world will meet this time in Caribbean sea. From June 17 to 21, will take place the 2nd edition of Défi Wind Caribbean on Bonaire Island, organized by Défi Wind organizer Philippe Bru and the 42 times world champion windsurfing Bjorn Dunkerbeck.

> Défi Wind Caribbean

This event is based on the principle of the Defi challenge, which means within a time frame you have to make as much miles as you can in between two buoys in the sea. The podium of the race is devided in different categories for men women and based on age. The event will open on June 17th the first day with a playday on the Lagoon. After this day combined with fun from the side events, 2 other locations on the open sea will be used for the race for the next 4 days. Before every race there will be skipper meetings providing to participants the necessary information to start there race. There will be boats for the security watching the race securely, and the positions will be life trackable from the website by a GPS system that will track the performances. The results will be available after the race on the website, and a daily press release will be sent.

> Bonaire Island

Bonaire is a beautiful island 40 miles seawards from Venezuela, which offers great circumstances for water sports activities. The light blue ocean, combined with the trade-wind (80-95% chance on >4 Bft predominantly from the east) and an average temperature of 30°C (86°F), makes it the perfect spot for windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. Open to 111 participants, the Défi Wind Caribbean race is dispatched on 3 dream spots and promise ideal sailing conditions.

Here meet all the top riders of windsurf as Bjorn Dunkerbeck, 42 times world champion, Monique Meier, first lady of the 2016 Défi Wind Caribbean edition coming this year discover Gruissan, Maelle Guilbaud (among the bests in France), the local Taty Frans, familiar with the world Top 10, Fabrice Couturier, faithful Défi challenger in the first hour, he never missed only one edition, the sect will be then represented in the Caribbean crystalline water, Amado Vrieswijk, other local from Bonaire, is 2016 vice-champion of the world in freestyle, Chrisitan Caumont, Défi Club (company partner of Défi Wind), Julien Quentel, current 7th of the World Cup in slalom…

 
> Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge

As its name indicates, it is to Björn Dunkerbeck himself that we owe this beautiful initiative with a speed test during speed competitions as Défi Wind Caribbean and Sorobon Masters. In a first time, the philosophy is to propose a competition accessible to all and during which windsurfers professionals and amateurs will compete in a speed run, armed with a tracker that will measure their speed. > Sorobon Masters

After competing in the Defi Wind Caribbean, participants also can register for the Sorobon Masters which will take place from June 22nd until June 25th at Sorobon Beach Resort . This is a pure windsurfing event with slalom, freestyle and a speed challenges by the Dunckerbeck speed challenge. This Challenge is open for amateurs and profs on Lac bay and profs can win points for their world rankings. More informations on sorobonmasters.com.
